Met Club E-Learning Platform

A full-stack, story-driven e-learning web platform commissioned under Save the Children, built to teach children weather, climate, and disaster-preparedness concepts through interactive stories, animated illustrations, and gamified quizzes. The platform is now featured on the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) website as an official learning resource.

Key Features & Deliverables
  • Commissioned under Save the Children as part of a child-focused disaster-risk-reduction education initiative.
  • Now featured/linked on the official Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) website as a recognized learning resource.
  • Converted a 36-topic, 9-module disaster-preparedness curriculum into interactive digital lessons.
  • Implemented six gamified question formats: hotspot click, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, drag-and-drop matching, sequence arrangement, and multiple choice.
  • Story-driven lesson design with animated character illustrations for each topic (e.g. weather vs. climate, floods, cyclones, storm surge, earthquakes, landslides).
  • Type-safe full-stack architecture using TypeScript across the React frontend.
  • Prisma + PostgreSQL schema for structured storage of modules, sessions, topics, and quiz content.
  • Express REST API layer connecting the frontend to curriculum and assessment data.

Case Study Overview

01. The Challenge & Problem Statement

Save the Children needed a structured, engaging way to teach children a large, technical disaster-risk-reduction curriculum (36 topics across weather, hydrology, geology, and disaster response) without it feeling like a dry textbook. The content needed to translate story-based, illustration-heavy source material into an interactive digital experience with quizzes, drag-and-drop activities, hotspot clicks, and sequencing games — built to a standard credible enough to be featured on a government meteorological agency's website.

02. Technical Architecture & Solution

Built a full-stack learning platform from scratch under Save the Children, with a React + TypeScript frontend using Framer Motion (and other animation libraries) to bring the story characters and scenes to life, and a Node.js/Express backend with Prisma ORM on PostgreSQL to handle structured content delivery, module/session sequencing, and quiz-result data. Converted the source curriculum (36 sub-topics grouped into 9 core modules — weather & climate, water systems, ecosystems, earth structure, water/weather disasters, geo/fire disasters, risk mapping, climate change, preparedness & post-disaster response) into interactive lessons, implementing multiple gamified question types (hotspot click, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, drag-and-drop matching, sequence arrangement, and multiple choice) matching the original instructional design.

03. Measurable Impact & Business Outcome

Shipped a live, fully functional gamified learning platform (meteorologyclub.com) that delivers the entire 3-month, 15-session disaster-preparedness curriculum through interactive stories and mini-games. The project was adopted by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) and is now linked/featured on the official BMD website as a recognized disaster-education resource, with a type-safe React frontend and a scalable Express/Prisma/PostgreSQL backend supporting ongoing curriculum expansion.

Technical Stack Breakdown

Frontend Engine

React with TypeScript for type-safe component development, animation libraries (e.g. Framer Motion) for story transitions, character animations, and interactive quiz elements (hotspot clicks, drag-and-drop, sequencing).

Backend Service

Node.js with Express serving REST APIs for curriculum content, session/module structure, and quiz submission handling.

Database & Storage

PostgreSQL managed through Prisma ORM, modeling modules, sessions, topics, learning outcomes, and quiz/question data for structured content delivery.
